Annie Lake is a remote freshwater lake in southern Yukon, situated within the region's broad wilderness of forests, mountains, and clear northern waterways. The lake lies along the Annie Lake Road southwest of Whitehorse and is part of a landscape shaped by boreal forest and rugged terrain. Its setting is quieter and less developed than Yukon's major tourism centres, making the lake notable for its natural surroundings rather than built attractions. The surrounding country includes rocky hills, spruce and pine forests, wetlands, and numerous smaller lakes and streams typical of southern Yukon.

The area around Annie Lake is part of the traditional territory of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and Kwanlin Dün First Nation, whose relationships with the land and waterways extend across the Whitehorse region. Indigenous knowledge and land use remain important to understanding Yukon's landscapes, including travel, hunting, fishing, gathering, and seasonal movement. The wider Annie Lake area also reflects Yukon's mining and prospecting history, with roads and trails providing access to remote parts of the southern Yukon interior. Today, the area is primarily valued for outdoor recreation and access to wilderness.

Annie Lake provides opportunities for fishing, boating, paddling, camping, hiking, and wildlife observation, although facilities are limited compared with more developed Yukon destinations. The surrounding forests provide habitat for moose, black and grizzly bears, wolves, foxes, and numerous bird species. Nearby Annie Lake Road connects the lake with the Whitehorse area and continues toward other recreational and wilderness areas. The landscape changes with elevation, from forested lakeshores to rocky slopes and open areas, while long summer daylight provides extended time for exploring the lake and surrounding country.

Food around Annie Lake is generally connected to self-sufficient outdoor travel, with visitors bringing supplies for camping, fishing, or extended stays in the surrounding wilderness. Fish from Yukon's lakes and rivers, wild berries, and locally harvested foods are part of the broader northern food tradition, although harvesting is subject to local regulations. A distinctive feature of Annie Lake is its combination of accessibility by a rough regional road and a distinctly remote setting. Its proximity to Whitehorse allows access to wilderness landscapes without requiring travel deep into Yukon's northern backcountry.

Whitehorse
Whitehorse, the capital of Canada’s Yukon Territory, sits along the Yukon River and serves as the cultural, economic, and transportation heart of the North. Its history is closely tied to the Klondike Gold Rush of the late 1890s, when prospectors passed through the area on their way to Dawson City.

Dawson City
Dawson City
Located in the western part of the Yukon Territory Province of Canada, this area is on the Yukon River and famous as the gold mining area of the great Gold Rush. It is still an active mining area and also a popular tourist attraction as it has retained much of the look from the gold rush era.
